There are currently 7 SEC teams ranked in the AP Top 25 poll. But using Phil Steele’s Vegas Power Ratings, the conference may have even more teams deserving of high spots.

Steele’s ratings, which he compiles every week utilizing his contacts at Las Vegas sportsbooks, are constructed to give college football fans an idea of “how much teams would be favored over another team if they met on a neutral field.” And heading into Week 6, there are 9 SEC teams in the top 23 spots.

It’s no surprise that Alabama and Georgia are ranked Nos. 1 and 2, just as they are in the AP poll, but there are some other SEC teams that have better spots in the Vegas Power Ratings.

Here’s where the 14 SEC teams rank going into Saturday’s Week 6 slate:

  • Alabama – 136.81 (No. 1)
  • Georgia – 136.53 (No. 2)
  • Ole Miss – 123.24 (No. 7)
  • Florida – 122.21 (No. 10)
  • Auburn – 119.05 (No. 15)
  • Arkansas – 118.55 (No. 16)
  • LSU – 117.01 (No. 20)
  • Texas A&M – 116.70 (No. 21)
  • Kentucky – 116.09 (No. 23)
  • Mississippi State – 114.10 (No. 32)
  • Tennessee – 111.78 (No. 50)
  • Missouri – 105.28 (No. 76)
  • South Carolina – 105.09 (No. 79)
  • Vanderbilt – 90.15 (No. 118)

It’s worth noting that Ole Miss is ranked No. 7, despite its lopsided loss at Alabama last week. The Rebels fell to No. 17 in the AP poll, but they weren’t punished as much in the Vegas Power Ratings.

Florida is also in the top 10 of the Vegas Power Ratings despite getting upset at Kentucky last week.
