Dan Mullen has addressed multiple questions about Florida’s recruiting in recent days, and he made another clarifying statement about it on Wednesday on the SEC coaches media teleconference.

“As it pertains to recruiting, our staff recruits nonstop,” he said. “… We’re always recruiting. … We just weren’t going to get into the specifics of recruiting and everything we’re doing until after the season.”

That was a clarification from a comment he made Monday at a press conference: “We’re in the season right now, we’ll do recruiting after the season, when it gets to be recruiting time, we can talk about recruiting,” Mullen said. “OK, next question.”

Florida also canceled all media availability for the players this week following the Georgia loss and ahead of the South Carolina game.

“I felt that it was best for our players that our focus is completely on the work that we have to do the final third of the season,” Mullen said. “I have made myself available for the media every day this week since the players aren’t available.”

Mullen also pointed to what needs to change to get the Gators back on track as they travel to South Carolina this week.

“1, overall it’s really building that confidence. … Within our expectations, there are 2 aspects to it, to me. It’s expecting good things to happen to us and making plays,” he said. “… In our losses this year, you can’t pinpoint 1 thing, but you can pinpoint that when bad things happened, they went really bad. … 1, you want to eliminate mistakes. The other part of it is when something bad happens during a game, put the brakes on. … The next play, guys have to believe you’re going to step up and make plays. Turn that adversity into something minor.”
