Zamir White, Georgia RB, announces plans for 2022 season
Zamir White, Georgia’s leading rusher in the 2021 season, has announced plans for the 2022 season.
White, a bruising 215-pound running back from Laurinburg, N.C., thanked Georgia coaches, his family, teammates and fans, and wrote on Instagram that the season was an “absolute thrill” and bringing the national championship to Athens was the ultimate reward.
“These are memories I will never forget and will surely last a lifetime,” he wrote. “It’s what prepared me for this next step as I proudly announce my intention to declare for the 2022 NFL Draft.”
In Monday’s national championship game, White had 13 carries for 84 yards and a touchdown, including a 19-yard rushing play.
White may be most remembered by Georgia fans as “Zeus” and they routinely yelled his nickname after big runs in Sanford Stadium and elsewhere. He also overcame 2 ACL injuries early in his career.
White played in all 15 games, and started 12 as the Bulldogs’ leading rusher for the second straight season, with 856 yards on 160 carries. He ranks 15th on UGA’s career rushing list with 2,043 yards.
White scored 12 TDs during the 2021 season, 11 by rushing and another by recovering a blocked punt in the end zone against Arkansas.
