Jay Bramblett, Notre Dame transfer punter, announces commitment to SEC program
Jay Bramblett, a former Notre Dame punter, entered the transfer portal about 2 weeks ago, and on Monday announced a commitment to play in the SEC.
Bramblett will join Brian Kelly at LSU after he had a pair of notable accomplishments this past season. Bramblett launched a career-long 72-yard punt in the win over Wisconsin. It was the longest punt by an Irish player since a 79-yard punt in 1998. In his final game in the Fiesta Bowl, Bramblett punted 7 times for 291 yards (41.6 average). Oklahoma State did not return any of them. His average improved in each of his 3 years at Notre Dame.
Last season, he averaged 43.8 yards per punt with a long of 72 yards. Bramblett also helped with field position inside the 20 as he had 16 punts downed inside the 20.
A native of Tuscaloosa, Alabama (Hillcrest) Bramblett came to Notre Dame as a 3-star recruit in the 2019 class.
