Quay Walker, a key linebacker on Georgia’s historic defense during its national championship run, is off the board at the NFL Draft.

Walker was taken No. 22 overall by the Green Bay Packers on Thursday night. Walker will reunite with former teammate Eric Stokes, a first-round of the Packers last year.

Walker started at linebacker in all 15 games, and finished with 67 total stops, which tied for third best on team, along with 5.5 Tackles for Loss, 1.5 sacks, 25 quarterback pressures and 3 pass breakups.

Walker, listed at 6-foot-4 and 240 pounds, is from Cordele, Georgia (Crisp County).

In big games, Walker delivered, including a team-high 8 tackles in the College Football Championship Game against Alabama, and also had a career-high 6 QB pressures against the Crimson Tide. He also led team and set career highs in tackles in 2 mid-season games, highlighted by 13 stops against Florida.

Walker was was rated the No. 2 linebacker prospect and top-35 overall recruit nationally coming out of high school. He played in all 14 games as a reserve in 2018 (6 tackles), sharing the team’s Special Teams Newcomer of the Year Award. Walker got more playing time as a sophomore (23 tackles, 3.5 for loss with 2.5 sacks in 13 appearances) before he started twice in 10 games 2 years ago.
