Georgia quarterback Stetson Bennett has become an overnight sensation since leading the Bulldogs to their first national title in over 4 decades. He’ll be honored for his heroics in one of the more unique fashions this fall season.

Poppell Farms, located in Wayne County’s Odum, Ga., announced on Thursday that Bennett would be the prominent feature in a 10-acre sorghum maze. One of the owners explained how it came about.

“When the team won the national championship last year, we immediately started working on it to see if this something that they could make happen,” co-owner Tanya Poppell told WJCL.com

As perhaps the biggest breakout star in college football last season, Bennett stepped in for the injured JT Daniels starting in Week 2 against UAB. He went on to start 12 of the Bulldogs’ 14 games, and passed for 2,862 yards, 29 touchdowns, and 9 interceptions on the way to a College Football Playoff berth.

Bennett became an icon in the Bulldogs’ history books for his efforts against No. 1 Alabama in the national championship. Completing 65.4 percent of passes, Bennett passed for 224 yards and 2 touchdowns, helping the Bulldogs pick up the 33-18 win.

With another year of eligibility due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Bennett elected to return for one more season in Athens. He currently ranks ninth all-time at Georgia in passing with 4,301 yards. His 39 passing touchdowns rank sixth all-time in Bulldogs’ history, trailing names such as Matthew Stafford (51), Eric Zeier (67), David Greene (72), Jake Fromm (78), and Aaron Murray (121).

The Bulldogs open the season at Mercedes-Benz Stadium Saturday against former defensive coordinator Dan Lanning and Oregon.
