Is Tennessee a Playoff team? Fans weigh in on postseason chances for Vols following loss to Georgia
Tennessee got embarrassed by No. 3 Georgia in Athens Saturday afternoon, 27-13.
The Vols have looked dominant all season, dispatching LSU and downing Alabama to earn a No. 1 ranking in the initial College Football Playoff poll. Georgia took that personally.
Tennessee’s chances of reaching the Playoff as still alive, but much less so than if they were competitive against the Bulldogs. With TCU picking up a win, Clemson with a favorable schedule to finish the year and now all chances of a trip to Atlanta out the window, some in Knoxville have reasons to worry.
College football is chaotic and plenty of things can mix things up in the coming weeks, but the odds don’t look great for the Vols right now. Tennessee will need help rather than controlling their own destiny heading into the final 3 games of the year against Mizzou, South Carolina and Vanderbilt.
Fans took to social media to weigh in on Tennessee’s hopes of cracking the 4-team field. Some think the Vols’ chances are done, others think Tennessee’s loss has opened the door for a 3-SEC team playoff field.
We’ll just have to wait and see.
And with that Tennessee is more than likely eliminated from the playoff

Georgia is going to beat Tennessee. And the first leg of the nightmare 3-SEC teams in the playoff scenario has hit.

I think the college football playoff committee put too much weight on anyone who beats Alabama. Georgia clearly not impressed. Tennessee still a very good team.

Tennessee is a fraudulent #1. Good team, top 10 team, not #1 and not a playoff team.

Worst case scenario for Tennessee. You’re out of the playoff completely without help.

I wonder how the playoff would work out if Tennessee, Bama, and Georgia all finish with one loss

If y’all think the Committee will entertain putting three SEC teams in the playoffs with Tennessee performing the way they are, I don’t know what to tell you

I don’t care what anyone. Tennessee had all there important games at home. They have there first true road test and failed. They don’t have a crowd to play off of. This is not an SEC CHAMPIONSHIP team or a playoff team!

Take the L. Finish the season strong finish 11-1. Back door our way into the playoff. See you next week

Tennessee can’t make the playoffs with 1 loss right? Considering they wouldn’t play in the SEC championship. Georgia with 1 loss does though

Tennessee’s playoff chances should be next to 0 right?
