Brian Kelly gave an update on LSU’s search for a new defensive line coach on Thursday morning.

The Tigers are looking to replace Jamar Cain, who left for a role in the NFL earlier this month.

Kelly shared LSU’s timeline for naming a replacement and indicated that a hire won’t come before the end of spring ball.

“We will go through the spring, then put together our thoughts. Do we hire within or go outside? All of our options are on the table,” Kelly said. “This is a position where it’s important we examine all options.”

Cain spent 1 season on LSU’s coaching staff before making the jump to the NFL. He had been an assistant coach in college football since 2013.

The defensive line coach position is crucial for the Tigers, especially in recruiting. LSU often boasts one of the most talented defensive line units in the country.

LSU’s spring practices will conclude with the program’s annual spring game on April 22.
