Florida added a big one to its 2024 class on Thursday.

McKinney (Texas) High safety Xavier Filsaime has revealed his commitment to the Gators. He’s a 5-star prospect in the 2024 class, according to 247Sports, and the 36th-ranked recruit in the country by the industry-generated 247 Composite (just missing 5-star status in the Composite). Filsaime had previously announced a group of 5 finalists that also included Georgia, LSU, USC, and Oregon.

Filsaime is from the Sunshine State originally and, according to 247Sports’ Blake Alderman, still has family in the area. He’s been trending to Florida for some time, and finally pulled the trigger after the team’s Orange and Blue spring game.

A 6-foot-1, 180-pound defender, Filsaime ranks as the No. 2 safety in the class and the No. 7 recruit from the state of Texas.

Last fall, he was a Texas District 5-6A first-team selection at safety as a junior after totaling 76 tackles, 3 forced fumbles, 1 tackle for loss, and 1 pass breakup. Filsaime also competes in track and field for McKinney, with a verified 10.52 100m time, a verified 22.38 200m time, and a 22-foot-0.75 long jump.

His verbal pledge gives the Gators their seventh known commitment to the 2024 class and vaults the group into the Top 10 nationally. You can view his highlight tape below, via Hudl:
