Bill Hancock, executive director of the College Football Playoff, has revealed some scheduling details ahead of the expanded field in 2024.
The 2024 CFP title game is expected to be Jan. 20, 2025, Hancock told reporters, and that would follow the first round, which is set for the third week of December with 1 game Friday and 3 Saturday. Semifinals would be in the middle of the week to avoid NFL Wild Card weekend.
Three quarterfinals for 2024 are expected to be played on New Year’s Day and one will be played on New Year’s Eve or Jan. 2. Hancock added “that’s the direction” things are heading, but it is not finalized.
