Jameson Williams spoke to the media on Thursday about his recent gambling suspension. Williams was one of the five NFL players that was suspended.

Wiliams seemed to receive the lesser punishment, as he will have to sit out for the first six games of the 2023 NFL season. Some of the other players were suspended for at least the entire season.

Williams stated that he wasn’t aware of the NFL’s gambling rules per ESPN’s Eric Woodyard. NFL players can’t take part in gambling at a league facility or while traveling with the team.

When asked what he learned from the experience, Williams offered his thoughts.

“Just make the right decisions,” said Williams. “It was something that I wasn’t aware of and it caught me. It hit me out of the blue.”

The former Alabama wideout is not planning on appealing the suspension either.

Williams was selected by the Detroit Lions in the 2022 NFL Draft with the 12th overall pick. Williams appeared in six games for Detroit last season.

Fans might remember Williams’ ACL tear in the College Football Playoff loss to Georgia in 2021.

Williams will be suiting up for the Lions during Week 7 of the upcoming season. Detroit will be facing the Baltimore Ravens at M&T Bank Stadium.
