Eddie Jackson will be looking for a new team for the first time in his pro career this offseason.

Jackson was released by the Chicago Bears on Thursday afternoon. The former Alabama star spent 7 seasons in Chicago and started 100 games for the franchise.

To recognize his contributions to the team over the years, Chicago put together a “thank you” video highlighting his many accomplishments with the Bears. Here’s the video:

The former Alabama star was consistently one of the top safeties in the league for stretches of his career. Jackson was named 1st team all-Pro in 2018 and also has 2 Pro Bowl selections in his career. In 2019, the Bears released their list of the top 100 Bears of all-time. Jackson made the cut at No. 96 and was one of four active players to earn a spot on the list.

Jackson is also one of the most decorated Alabama players to enter the league in recent memory. He was named Defensive MVP of the 2015 College Football Playoff National Championship Game. Jackson also earned all-SEC honors in 2015 and 2016.

Jackson totaled 15 interceptions, 439 total tackles, 6 forced fumbles and 6 touchdowns during his time in Chicago.

NFL free agency is set to begin in mid-March. It’s possible Jackson will sign with a new team prior to the NFL Draft in April.
