The Miami Dolphins made it clear that they had big plans for Minkah Fitzpatrick when they drafted him with the No. 11 overall pick in the 2018 NFL Draft. In the third week of his rookie season, Fitzpatrick will make his first career NFL start.

While Fitzpatrick hasn’t exactly dominated the box score, it’s clear that the two-time Consensus All-American is doing the right things to impress Dolphins coach Adam Gase and his staff. In two games, Fitzpatrick has recorded nine combined tackles and a pass breakup.

To his credit, Fitzpatrick has shown he plans to establish himself as a playmaker. The former Alabama defensive back made headlines for filing to trademark FitzMagic, the nickname for Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback (and walking meme) Ryan Fitzpatrick. Outside of the Miami and Alabama fanbases, it’s safe to assume that most would side with Ryan in this dispute, but Minkah has a long season ahead of him to prove the nickname belongs to him.

The Miami Dolphins host the Oakland Raiders at 1 p.m. ET on CBS.
