Jalen Milroe’s short-lived Heisman campaign torched after loss to Vanderbilt

Jalen Milroe has experienced all the highs and lows that college football has to offer in the span of just 7 days.

A week ago, Milroe was the toast of the college football world after a virtually flawless performance against Georgia. In the dramatic win for Alabama, Milroe jumped to the No. 1 spot in the Heisman leaderboard.

However, Milroe’s hold on the No. 1 spot in the latest Heisman Trophy odds lasted just one week. While Milroe’s performance was far from the worst aspect of the Tide in Week 6, he could not stop Alabama from a disastrous loss to unranked Vanderbilt.

Following the loss, Milroe has tumbled from the top spot in the Heisman race and is now listed at +1200 for the award per the live odds listed at FanDuel. That puts Milroe tied with Tennessee’s Nico Iamaleava for 4th overall in the latest odds.

Boise State running back Ashton Jeanty is the new leader for the award at +185. Colorado two-way phenom Travis Hunter (+470) and Miami QB Cam Ward (+650) are the other players listed ahead of Milroe after Alabama’s loss.

That’s not to say Milroe’s Heisman campaign is entirely over. He will get plenty of impact games down the stretch of the season to climb back into the race, and he even had 320 yards of offense and 2 touchdowns on Saturday.

However, many on social media are already debating whether or not Milroe’s shot at the Heisman has already slipped through his fingers. Take a look:
