Kirk Herbstreit appeared on “Pardon My Take” on Wednesday to talk about the College Football Playoff.

PFT Commenter asked the ESPN College GameDay analyst what the “ultimate doomsday scenario” would be for the CFP.

Herbstreit started his breakdown with No. 8 Alabama beating top-ranked Georgia in the SEC Championship Game and No. 5 Oregon squeezing past No. 3 Washington in the Pac-12 title game.

Herbstreit then said to “throw in a narrow win” for No. 4 Florida State over No. 14 Louisville in the ACC Championship game, and No. 7 Texas winning “an ugly game” against No. 18 Oklahoma State in the Big 12 title game.

PFT Commenter then asked Herbstreit for his final 4 teams, but Herbstreit jokingly refused to list them.

“I’m not going to answer that,” Herbstreit said with a laugh.

Herbstreit, however, said he can see Michigan, Texas and Alabama as locks for CFP spots. He noted there could be a debate on who gets the No. 4 slot.

Georgia, Michigan, Washington and Florida State are currently the top 4 in the latest CFP rankings. Each of the teams are undefeated at 12-0.

Oregon, Ohio State and Alabama — all 11-1 so far this season — and Missouri and Penn State round out the top 10 teams in the CFP rankings.
