Arkansas’ calling card has been its play in the trenches since Sam Pittman took the reins in Fayetteville ahead of the 2020 season.

Key to the Razorbacks’ efforts on the defensive front will be redshirt seniors Eric Gregory and Keivie Rose. Gregory, a former 4-star recruit under previous head coach Chad Morris, has registered 4.0 tackles for a loss in back-to-back seasons. Rose, an addition from the transfer portal in the offseason, was a 1st-team all-conference performer at Louisiana Tech after posting 4.0 TFLs, 2 sacks, and 2 forced fumbles.

That’s not to mention others in the defensive line room including sixth-year player Trajan Jeffcoat and another transfer portal player in former Maryland DL Anthony Booker Jr.

“This is the deepest we’ve been at defensive line since I’ve been here. We can go three deep,” Gregory said on Monday night, according to Pig Trail Nation.

Rose, who played four seasons at La. Tech, has taken notice as well.

“This is the most depth I’ve been around since I started playing college football. It’s really exciting to be around,” he said.

We’ll see how this factors into the Razorbacks’ season after a 7-6 (3-5 SEC) record in 2022, a year after they finished in the top 25. They open their season against Western Carolina on Sept. 2.
