Newly-hired Auburn head coach Hugh Freeze has chosen a familiar face to coach receivers on his new staff. Reports indicate that Freeze and the Tigers are expected to hire former receiver Marcus Davis as receivers coach.

Davis spent 4 years on The Plains and finished his career with 83 receptions for 650 yards and 3 touchdowns.

Davis was a Class of 2013 prospect that was recruited as a cornerback but made the switch upon arrival on campus. He started his coaching career as a graduate assistant at Florida State, landed a job as WR coach at Hawaii before moving on to Georgia Southern and now will coach Auburn in the same role. Davis is 28 and considered to be a rising star in the assistant coaching ranks.

Freeze’s staff is filling out nicely. Former Interim head coach Carnell Williams will be staying on staff and Freeze recently hired names such as Ron Roberts as DC, Philip Montgomery as OC and Wesley McGriff as secondary coach, to name a few.
