Paul Finebaum spared no feelings in his critique of Lincoln Riley.

The SEC Network host took a blowtorch to Riley during this week’s episode of The Matt Barrie Show. After USC’s season came to a close with a 38-20 loss to UCLA on Saturday, Finebaum called Riley a “total fraud” and suggested he should be on the hot seat in Los Angeles — a suggestion former Florida head coach Dan Mullen made on Saturday as well.

“I don’t know when I’ve seen a worse coaching job by anyone than Lincoln Riley this year,” Finebaum said. “It’s a complete disaster. And quite frankly he oughta pack up. I don’t really see what his path is moving forward. He blamed everything on Alex Grinch. They haven’t been any better. They’ve been worse.”

Barrie said he thought before the season 10-2 would be the floor for USC, a team he suggested had “top-three talent.” He said 7-5 would have never been a thought.

But that’s where USC finds itself after losing five of its last six games.

“Maybe, Lincoln, you oughta look in the mirror. Maybe you’re just a total fraud as a coach,” Finebaum said. “Maybe you just lived off of a couple of Heisman winners and what Oklahoma did for you. All the people in Oklahoma who were heartbroken two years ago and never thought they would get over that blow-off, they’re over it now because Lincoln Riley is nowhere near the coach that we all tried to make him out to be.”

Finebaum also lamented the fact Caleb Williams’ 2023 season ended in disappointing fashion. Williams has a Heisman Trophy to his name, but in three collegiate seasons, he has 10,082 career passing yards, 120 career touchdowns, a 169 career passer rating, one conference championship game appearance, and no College Football Playoff appearances.

If Williams decides to declare for the NFL, he will end his career with one postseason victory — with Bob Stoops as the head coach.

“Have you ever seen a college season ruined more than what Lincoln Riley did for Caleb Williams? I said this a year ago right here that I thought it was really a shame that Bryce Young had such a terrible final year. He lost two games,” Finebaum said. “You have a generational quarterback and you finish 7-5?”

Barrie and Finebaum agreed that USC is going to be in trouble in the Big Ten next season unless sweeping changes are made.

The Trojans’ first year in the Big Ten features road games at Michigan and Washington. USC will face Wisconsin, Penn State, and Nebraska at home.
