Purdue Pete has got some explaining to do.

We have a wild story to share from Purdue as one of the school’s spirit team members was recently involved in a wild incident.

Senior Joseph Desmond, aka Purdue Pete, was arrested at a West Lafayette McDonald’s after allegedly being involved in a parking lot fight that in which one of the restaurant staff members claims Desmond struck his alleged victim with his car according to the Purdue Exponent.

Desmond was not in character and suited up as Purdue Pete during the incident, which would have been incredible.

The senior is listed as one of the members of Purdue’s spirit squad on the school’s official website.

According to police, the alleged victim appeared to have suffered multiple injuries. Desmond denies that he is responsible but police reported a strong odor of alcohol from Desmond following the alleged incident.

Desmond reportedly was unaware of which McDonald’s he was at, according to the police report. He did confirm he had been drinking heavily leading up to the incident.

Desmond was charged with battery resulting in bodily injury, operating a vehicle while intoxicated endangering a person, disorderly conduct, a BAC of .15 or more and resisting law enforcement.
