Darius Robinson has officially been selected at the 2024 NFL Draft.

The standout Mizzou defensive lineman heard his name called in the first round on Thursday night in Detroit, going No. 27 overall to the Arizona Cardinals.

This was a uniquely special night for Robinson, who was born and raised in the suburbs of Detroit. After starring at Mizzou for the last few years, he’s back in his home city and has been chosen for his first-ever professional team.

Robinson was a member of Mizzou’s 2019 recruiting class. He was a 3-star prospect who worked his way into more playing time every year.

In 2022 and 2023, Robinson was a star. During the 2022 season, he recorded 35 tackles (5.5 for a loss) and 3.5 sacks. Then, as Mizzou had a breakout 2023 campaign, Robinson’s play on the defensive interior was a big reason why. He posted 43 tackles (14 for a loss) and an impressive 8.5 sacks during his final year in Columbia. He also had 1 forced fumble and a fumble recovery.

His best game came against Kentucky this past season, when he recorded 6 total tackles and 2 sacks.

Robinson is the Tigers’ first first-round pick since 2017, when DE Charles Harris went to the Miami Dolphins with the No. 22 overall pick.

As Mizzou gears up for a run at the expanded College Football Playoff in 2024, Robinson will be difficult to replace as an anchor of the defensive line.

Peter Schrager of the NFL Network had Robinson going No. 27 overall to the Arizona Cardinals in his final mock draft. Here’s what Schrager had to say about the Mizzou star:

Robinson is perhaps the quietest rising prospect in this draft class. I won’t be surprised if he comes off the board in the top 20 picks. Versatile, experienced and high-motored — this defensive lineman has a lot of fans in the league.

How will Robinson fare as a rookie? We’ll find out what sort of role he carves out for himself this preseason.
