Terrion Arnold has a new home! The talented defensive back from Alabama was selected with the No. 24 overall pick by the Detroit Lions in the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft.

Detroit traded with the Dallas Cowboys to move up and get their newest defensive back.

A highly-touted prospect out of Tallahassee (Florida) John Paul II Catholic High School, Arnold opted to take his recruitment all the way to National Signing Day instead of the increasingly popular Early Signing Period in December. Anyone who watched Alabama over the past 2 seasons would say Arnold was worth the wait.

Arnold needed just 3 years in college to show that he was ready to play professionally, but he wasn’t a 3-year contributor. Arnold redshirted the 2021 season without making an appearance as he adjusted to cornerback after being one of the top safeties out of high school.

In 2022, Arnold showed that he had the hang of playing corner. As a redshirt freshman, Arnold appeared in 11 games, making 7 starts. He logged 7 pass breakups with 1 interception, along with 45 tackles (1 for loss) and a fumble recovery. Arnold’s strong Bama debut season landed him on the Freshman All-SEC Team and Freshman All-American recognition from the FWAA.

Arnold turned it up in 2023 with a career year to cap his time in crimson and white. Arnold established himself as one of the SEC’s top pass defenders with career-highs of 12 pass breakups and 5 interceptions. He tied for the SEC lead in both categories.

Arnold also improved his tackling numbers in 2023. As a redshirt sophomore, he logged 63 tackles, including 40 solo stops and 6.5 TFLs with 1 sack. Arnold also added a forced fumble to his 2023 numbers.

The strong 2023 showing made Arnold a first-team AP All-American. He was also named first-team All-SEC by the conference coaches. Bama fans will remember his numerous highlight plays fondly.
