Departing Auburn RB Boobee Whitlow won’t be the only talented running back on the transfer market this offseason. Penn State RB Ricky Slade has entered his name into the NCAA’s transfer portal as well, according to AL.com’s Matt Zenitz.

Slade, a Virginia native, was a highly sought-after recruit in the class of 2018. The 247Sports Composite rated Slated 5-stars, the No. 1 all-purpose back and No. 27 prospect overall in the class. He had 26 scholarship offers as a recruit, including Florida, South Carolina and Tennessee.

Current Alabama running backs coach Charles Huff was Slade’s primary recruiter to Penn State. Huff joined the Alabama staff in 2019 after a season at Mississippi State under Joe Moorhead, Penn State’s former offensive coordinator. Moorhead is now the offensive coordinator at Oregon.

Over the last two seasons, Slade appeared in 21 games, logging 92 carries for 471 yards and 8 touchdowns along with 13 catches for 117 yards. In PSU’s Cotton Bowl win over Memphis, Slade had 5 carries for 58 yards.
