Last year the SEC went 0-3 vs the Big 12 in the post season. Will there be an improvement this year?

I'm not saying they don't deserve a high seed, I'm asking why they have an easier path than most of the 1 seeds and all of the other 2 seeds. They are almost gifted an appearance in the Elite Eight.
The Midwest is by far the easiest region, at least according to the metrics. I added up the NET rankings of the top 9 seeds in each region (the lower the better):
East: 162
South: 171
West: 185
Midwest: 222
There's some parity for the East, South, and West. But the Midwest is strangely stocked with weaker teams.
True, the bears have been really hurt by injuries. They are only playing seven guys, two of whom are freshmen and a third is a division III transfer. What Scott Drew has done, given the circumstances, is impressive.
What did Auburn do to deserve the easiest path of any team in tournament?
Alabama and Tennessee also have teams in the Big 12.
