So, celebratory rub n tug for Hugh today?
"Fulmer stabs someone in the back? That sounds familiar" -Johnny Majors, probably
Finally, someone speaking the truth about Gruden. There is a reason he's been in the booth for 10 yrs.
"The Bulldogs went toe-to-toe. Had they done so for four quarters, the conversation is very different." Could be written about damn near every loss in the last 5 years. It's getting old.
You mean like LA-Monroe, Southern or the perennial powerhouse that is GA Southern? Take away Tech, and the other Bulldogs' 2015 non conference schedule isn't too terribly impressive either, is it? OK State a couple of years ago comes to mind. LA Tech this coming season...every couple of years or so.
" I’d say ya’ll lost your three biggest games this year…" Wierd, I was going to say the same about UGA, must be a Bulldog thing :) Seriously though, I don't believe it is disrespectful. There are two things at work here. 1. We are losing a ton. and with LSU and Auburn in the 1st month of the season, there isn't a lot of time to get younger ones up to speed. 3 of the 1st five games are against SEC West opponents, and there isnt one game that is guaranteed win in the SEC West. If young guys struggle early, we might be out of the West before we fire on all cylinders. And just because we were number 1 this year doesn't mean some state fans wont be calling for Dan's head if we start 2-3. 2. The other thing is laziness. It's easy to go down the list and say "oh MSU was better this year than ever, they aren't going to do that again". It's an easy bet. But you know what? There is a reason for that. Our History of up one year, down for one (or two, or three...) year. There is only one way to change that attitude. Consistency.
Really? "not!"? Did you just arrive from 1992 Garth?
Following that logic, State shouldn't be in either, seeing what TSUN did to us.... Objectivity. Get some. Please.
So TCU would be 2 or 3 wins better than the Aggies, if they were in the SEC, is what you are saying. I've lived in the DFW area for long enough to have heard all of the knocks against TCU, "They are in the Mountain West, they can't compete with a 'real' conference against 'real teams' - and then the little sisters of the blind won the Rose Bowl against a B1G. Now it's "The Big 12 is the worst..get a real schedule..." etc etc...And all they do is beat the crap out of Ole Miss. I don't imagine TAMU is any hurry to add a home/away series with the Frogs anytime soon. Oh, and they've been running that scheme for quite a while, think someone would have it figured out. The fact is, Gary Patterson does more with less than any other coach in the country. Period. I don't think #3 is that big of a stretch. Could they hang with OSU or Oregon? Maybe, maybe not. Not sure anyone could hang with OSU after watching the last 3 games. They might not win vs. many teams in the top 5, but they'd be in the games, unlike FSU....
"Ok Kenny, there are two tips for our first lesson. First, We need to work on your upper body posture - this will give you a better platform to start your throwing motion. Second, and this is important so pay attention - Never, ever, under any circumstances photograph your junk when you are in a bar in Connecticut. OK? Got it? Lets get to work...."
I watched the game and listened to the State broadcast on the radio...or tried to at least. Now that we are number 1, can we get someone in here who is competent to broadcast? Seriously. On Josh's long TD, if one were only listening, one wouldn't know that the play had started until Josh was inside the 20, and even then you couldn't be certain who had the ball. Also, on the onside kick the very descriptive "and he caught it and is running past the 40 to the 30 one man to beat and he scores a touchdown" doesn't cut it. WHO has it, Kentucky or MSU? There is a serious drop off in talent from Jack ....it's time to get someone who can at least keep up with the game, someone who is less concerned about his radio voice and more concerned with painting a picture of what is happening. Also, the sideline report blows. "We picked a random cotton farmer to tell us what's happening on the sideline, jimbob, over to you". We can do better.
