Anthony Richardson won’t have to wait too much longer to here his name called in the 2023 NFL Draft. Before the event kicks off, Richardson was praised by HC Billy Napier per Sports Illustrated’s Richard Johnson.

Richardson recorded 2,549 yards passing with 26 total touchdowns in his first year as the starting QB at Florida. He played in all 12 games and led the Gators to a 6-6 regular season finish.

Napier wanted what was best for Richardson and didn’t try too hard to convince the Gator gunslinger to return for another season. Napier spoke highly of Richardson, calling the Florida QB a “generational talent”.

“When a player on your team is going to be a first-round pick, it’s hard to argue with them or convince them to come back. Anthony would have benefited from another year of college football, but that doesn’t change the traits, the upside, the potential. I think most of the teams in the league feel how I feel, and that is this guy’s a freak of nature, a generational talent. And he basically set a precedent at the combine, destroying every measurable known to man for the quarterback position.”

In the most recent mock draft done by ESPN’s Matt Miller, Richardson was projected to be taken at No. 7 by the Las Vegas Raiders.

The 2023 NFL Draft will be shown on ESPN, ABC, and NFL Network at 8 p.m. ET.
