After a brief separation, Gainesville’s own Anthony Richardson is once again committed to the Florida Gators.

The Eastside dual-threat quarterback made the announcement Saturday via his Twitter account. He originally committed to Florida on July 28, 2018, but backed off that pledge in February when Dan Mullen and his staff began to pursue Carson Beck, the Mandarin (Jacksonville, Florida) product who won the state of Florida’s Mr. Football for 2018. Beck, an elite pro-style passer, committed to Georgia in March. After committing to the Bulldogs, Beck revealed that he named UF his leader to get the attention of the UGA staff.

It’s far too early to know if Richardson and Beck will ever face off head-to-head at The World’s Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party, but Gators fans are understandably excited about having Richardson on board. A 3-star prospect rated the No. 12 dual-threat quarterback and No. 73 Sunshine State product on the 247Sports Composite, Richardson currently checks in at 6-4, 230 pounds. In February, Richardson clocked a 4.50-second 40-yard dash time at Nike’s “The Opening” regional competition camp in Orlando. He also impressed as a passer, earning an invite to the Elite 11.

Florida has now eight pledges in its 2020 class. If Richardson signs with Florida, he will be the third dual-threat quarterback to join the Gators in Mullen’s tenure, following Emory Jones (2018) and Jalon Jones (2019). While de-committed, Richardson also showed interest in Penn State and Michigan.
