Florida has made it back-to-back days with a Class of 2025 commitment.

Jalen Wiggins, a defensive lineman from enemy territory, is the newest Gator pledge. His verbal commitment follows Sunday’s announcement from Atlanta (Georgia) Woodward Academy WR Josiah Abdullah.

Wiggins shared the news of his commitment through social media, with the help of On3’s Hayes Fawcett.

Out of Tallahassee (Florida) James Rickards High School, Wiggins is listed as measuring over 6-4 and 245 pounds. On the 247Sports Composite, Wiggins is rated 4-stars, the No. 7 defensive lineman, No. 12 player in the state of Florida and No. 92 prospect overall in the 2025 recruiting class.

Wiggins had scholarship offers from 12 program so far. He committed to Florida over Arkansas, Florida State, Kentucky, Miami, Mississippi State, Tennessee and others.

Wiggins was recruited to Florida by edge coach Mike Peterson and recently hired defensive line coach Gerald Chatman. Gator fans can get a preview of what he brings to Gainesville by checking out highlights from his junior season reel, below, via Hudl:

Florida’s 2025 recruiting

In the 2023 offseason, Napier and his staff got the attention of the college football world with multiple big-time commitments for the 2024 class. Just weeks away from December’s Early Signing Period, the Gators were in position to sign a top-5 class until things fell apart with the team ending the season on a five-game losing skid, failing to secure bowl eligibility.

The Gators signed 18 high school prospects in their 2024 class, finishing No. 16 nationally on the 247Sports Composite. UF hopes to finish with a higher-ranked class in 2025, but the Gators will have to withstand negative recruiting against Napier, who has posted an 11-14 record in two seasons as the head coach at Florida.

In the early stages of the 2025 cycle, Florida has three verbal pledges for a class that ranks No. 20 on the Composite. Expect Napier’s staff to have a busy spring and summer building the commit list.
