Mel Tucker thanks Michigan State assistant William Peagler departing for Florida position
William Peagler will be leaving Michigan State on good terms. The Spartans’ running backs coach was hired Friday by Billy Napier to be Florida’s new tight ends coach.
After the hiring was announced, MSU coach Mel Tucker publicly thanked Peagler for his time at MSU.
I want to thank @PeaglerWilliam for everything he has done for our program. Day in and day out he gave everything he had to this football family and I am excited to see what the future holds for him. #RELENTLESS pic.twitter.com/6wlF2PxO0p

Peagler responded with kind words for Tucker.
There is not a day that I haven’t loved coming to work for @Coach_mtucker . He means more to me than I can put into words. Thanks Coach and I love you! https://t.co/oZf9bGXRQp

Peagler and Tucker first crossed paths at Georgia during the 2017 season when Peagler was a graduate assistant on the Bulldogs staff and Tucker was UGA’s defensive coordinator. Peagler spent a year working for Napier at Louisiana before reuniting with Tucker at Colorado. Tucker was Colorado’s head coach for the 2019 season and Peagler served as director of quality control for the Buffaloes offense. He followed Tucker to Michigan State, coaching running backs the past 2 seasons.
Peagler will remain with MSU through Thursday’s Peach Bowl game against Pittsburgh.
