Kamari Lassiter knows that a winning streak is not the ultimate goal, but the Georgia defensive back made sure to sit back and appreciate the accomplishment.

With its win over Georgia Tech on Saturday, Georgia won its 29th-straight game, giving the Bulldogs the longest win streak in college football history. The ultimate goal of another championship is still down the road, but Lassiter made sure he and his teammates recognized the accomplishment.

“I definitely do just take some time to definitely just try and sit back and appreciate it,” Lassiter said during the SEC players teleconferences on Monday. “It’s hard to sometimes just take a second and just slow down when games are coming at you so fast with practices and all the media and everything flying around, but sometimes just being able to sit down and think for myself personally over the last few years that I’ve been able to be a part of a really good program and a program that’s taught me a lot of things, not just about football but about life.

Lassiter has been with Georgia for the entirety of its streak, which dates back to the 2021 season. He’s become a big part of the defense over that time, recording 36 tackles this season. When reflecting on the streak, Lassiter remembered all his teammates that helped make it possible.

“I’ve been around some really good guys, some guys that have gone to the league, some guys that are still with me,” Lassiter said. “But just being able to be a part of this and even somewhat have an impact on some of these teams is really truly just a blessing and something that I’m very grateful for.”

Georgia is looking to make the streak 30-straight game on Saturday against Alabama, the team that it last lost to.
