In regards to any sport, it’s natural and common to compare players from different eras.

This is something consistently spoken about. While statistical numbers can be used somewhat as a barometer, a better one may be in terms of those individuals who’ve seen the two players in question up close and personal.

Former Ole Miss and NFL quarterback Archie Manning recently offered a very fascinating comparison between a former all-time great and LSU running back Leonard Fournette:

This comparison is incredibly high-praise. There’s no question Adrian Peterson, Bo Jackson, and Herschel Walker are three of the best rushers to ever play the sport.

However, Jim Brown may be the best to have ever laced ’em up. Brown was a four-sport star at Syracuse. He set multiple school records in college before transitioning to an illustrious professional career with the Cleveland Browns.

In Cleveland, Brown was a nine-time Pro Bowl selection, a four-time MVP, led the NFL in rushing on eight occasions, and also won a Super Bowl.

If Fournette can register half of the accolades achieved by Brown, he’d be thrilled.
