After attending LSU S Jamal Adams’ NFL Draft announcement on Friday morning, former Tiger coach Les Miles, who recruited Adams to Baton Rouge, discussed his next move after failing to land a new head coaching job this offseason.

According to The Advocate, Miles is disappointed to be out of the coaching ranks for the upcoming season, but will try again next offseason:

“For me not to be able to step to the field and show a young man, ‘This is how we do it’ … To move on from there, I can’t imagine (at) this point,” he said. “Maybe at another time – maybe. Not at this time. I’m a coach.”

Miles was most recently linked to the Minnesota job, but the school hired Western Michigan coach P.J. Fleck on Friday morning. Miles didn’t confirm whether or not he officially interviewed for the position, but did say he has had several interviews and knows what to look for moving forward:

“Well, it’s something I want to do,” he said of coaching. “You want an athletic director and president that want you. If they don’t want you, you’re good. OK? The good news is, I’ve seen some great places and know more what to look for. No, I’m not disappointed.”

Whether Miles joins ESPN as an analyst next year remains to be seen, but one thing is for certain — the 2007 national champion will inevitably be linked to whatever jobs come open in 2017.
