Joe Burrow’s recruitment is beginning to heat up.

The former Ohio State quarterback announced his decision to leave the Buckeyes this week in order to take advantage of the NCAA’s graduate transfer rule following a spring camp competition with Buckeye quarterbacks Dwayne Haskins and Tate Martell. Burrow will be eligible to play immediately at his next destination.

“After weeks of struggling with this decision, I have decided to leave Ohio State and explore other options. My teammates and coaches all know the love I feel for them. I will decide where I will play next year in the coming weeks,” Burrow publicly announced on Twitter this week.

LSU was the first SEC school to seek permission to contact Burrow (Cincinnati has done the same) according to Andy Staple of Sports Illustrated, and it would appear that those discussions went well.

College football insider Bruce Feldman, also of Sports Illustrated, is now reporting that Burrow will visit Baton Rouge in the coming days.

The Tigers have yet to name a starting quarterback following the offseason departure to Danny Etling. Etling was a seventh-round selection in the 2018 NFL Draft by New England. During the spring, sophomore Myles Brennan, redshirt freshman Lowell Narcisse, and junior Justin McMillan have been battling it out to earn the starting spot for the team.
