Duke and Michigan will no longer face off at Madison Square Garden this fall, according to a report.
That news comes via CBS Sports’ Matt Norlander, who notes that “broadcasting complexities” led to the decision to scrap the game. This matchup was announced earlier this offseason.
This game was originally announced as being broadcast on Amazon’s Prime Video. However, the Big Ten claimed it owned the broadcasting rights to this game after last season’s Duke-Michigan game in Washington D.C. was broadcast on ESPN.
Creative solutions were attempted, such as reportedly moving the game from New York City to the Marlins’ stadium in Miami. However, in the end, the parties involved decided to cancel the matchup altogether.
Instead, Duke will face off against Texas Tech at Madison Square Garden on Dec. 21. Prime Video will air the matchup.

Duke is expected to have one of the best rosters in the country next season led by a veteran back court that includes Caleb Foster, Dame Sarr and incoming transfer John Blackwell.
Texas Tech could be in for a bit of a rebuilding year in 2026-27. Star forward JT Toppin tore his ACL in March and is expected to miss time. The Red Raiders also lost star guard Christian Anderson to the NBA Draft.
