Alabama defensive back Dre Kirkpatrick Jr. is no longer with the program after a second suspension in as many years, Kalen DeBoer said on Tuesday.

Kirkpatrick was suspended for Alabama‘s Week 8 game against Texas A&M for what was then termed a violation of team rules. During a Birmingham Monday Morning Quarterback Club appearance two days after the game, DeBoer said that “there were still some details I’m trying to understand” regarding the situation.

On Tuesday, it culminated in Kirkpatrick’s dismissal.

“After gathering more information on the situation, Dre Kirkpatrick Jr. will no longer be a part of our program,” DeBoer said in a statement. “He did not live up to the standards and expectations that I have set for this team and our players.”

Kirkpatrick, whose father was a former All-SEC cornerback who won two national championships at Alabama before spending 10 seasons in the NFL, was a member of the 2024 recruiting class. As a true freshman, he appeared in all 13 of the Tide’s games. He played in the team’s first eight games in 2025 and accumulated nine tackles, but was suspended after an arrest and didn’t see the field again.

In 2026, he recorded five tackles in seven games. After his latest arrest, though, his time with Alabama has come to an end.
