Money is won or lost in the later rounds of your 18-round drafts. Getting value and production from long-shot players is the key to advancing to the final week of the season, where the real prize money is won.

For example, look at last year’s winning team. Getting Los Angeles Rams RB Kyren Williams in Round 18 not only helped out all season long, but was crucial in winning the grand prize:

5 RBs to target after Round 10

Blake Corum, Los Angeles Rams — ADP: 130.7

Corum comes to the Rams from Michigan, where he was the biggest part of an offense that won a national title. He’ll serve as the backup to Kyren Williams, last year’s Best Ball Mania darling, but there should be a more even split of carries in LA this year. Corum will likely get plenty of work, so he’s worth a flyer in Round 11.

Chuba Hubbard, Carolina Panthers — ADP: 154.4

The Panthers drafted Jonathon Brooks out of Texas. Miles Sanders is also in the Carolina backfield. But Hubbard was the main guy last year and deserves a shot at plenty of carries in 2024. Brooks is coming off a torn right ACL in November and Sanders was a shell of himself last year. Hubbard should hold onto his RB1 title for much of the 2024 season.

Keaton Mitchell, Baltimore Ravens — ADP: 190.0

Mitchell suffered a devastating ACL injury in mid-December last year, and there’s currently no timetable for his return to action. But if you can get him at or after pick 190, he’s worth a flyer. If he does manage to come back midseason, he’s the kind of explosive runner who can help carry your team in the back half of the season. The Ravens signed Derrick Henry this offseason and have Justice Hill as his primary backup, but if Mitchell returns, he has a shot to be the speed option alongside Henry.

Tank Bigsby, Jacksonville Jaguars — ADP: 212.4

Bigsby had a mostly disappointing rookie season, but there were some flashes of potential brilliance. The Jaguars don’t have much depth behind starter Travis Etienne Jr., so if he goes down with an injury, Bigsby could see a dramatic increase in work. If you can snag him in the last round of your draft, it’s certainly a good value.

Jamaal Williams, New Orleans Saints — ADP: 215.9

Williams only scored 1 touchdown for the Saints last year, but back in 2022, he led the NFL with 17 touchdown carries for the Detroit Lions. Who is he as a running back? The answer is probably somewhere between the guy who scored 1 TD and the guy who scored 17. Alvin Kamara is getting older and has missed time the last couple of seasons. Williams should be the beneficiary of more goal-line work in 2024, even if Kamara is healthy.
