Lane Kiffin has been a topic of conversation this week as several SEC teams begin the search for a new head coach.

Texas A&M’s Jimbo Fisher was fired Sunday and Mississippi State’s Zach Arnett followed shortly after Monday morning. Kiffin, who has been at Ole Miss since 2020, has had his name in the mix for the job in College Station.

But this is nothing new for Kiffin. Part of being a great coach is having your name on coaching hot boards, so Kiffin has gotten used to it. For him, he’s focused on his season with Ole Miss.

“I’ve got a lot of practice at that. It’s that time of year,” Kiffin said during the SEC coaches teleconference Wednesday. “It is what it is. We’re going to stay focused on what we are doing and what we are doing here and not pay attention to outside noise.”

Kiffin is looking for a pair of wins to close out the season after losing to Georgia. The Rebels will face UL Monroe this week before their final game of the year against Mississippi State.
