Matt Barrie called the Egg Bowl and Thursday and had a chance to get acclimated with the Rebels and Lane Kiffin during the leadup to and coverage of the game.

Barrie said on his Sunday show, “Sunday Bloody Sunday” that he’s glad Kiffin is staying at Ole Miss despite the rumors of being a No. 1 candidate at Auburn.

“Lane Kiffin could be king in Oxford,” he said. “They’re renovating all of those facilities. There’s a lot of money in their collective and there isn’t the pressure you perhaps get at other places. I’m glad Lane stopped the flirtation and is staying put because he could be at Ole Miss what Dabo (Swinney) turned into at Clemson. Which is someone who wins big, can take some time to build it, and perhaps be in the position to go to the College Football Playoff. They started 7-0, remember a month ago we were talking about Ole Miss as a sleeper to go to the Playoff.”

Barrie added that Kiffin staying at Ole Miss is good for college football and the SEC West.
