The mock NFL Drafts are heating up, and SEC fans – specifically Ole Miss and Alabama fans – will have plenty to monitor as the April 28, 2016 draft approaches.

The Big Lead is known for putting out some interesting and thoughtful mock drafts both for the NFL and the NBA. In the site’s latest NFL mock, 9 SEC players are projected to go on opening night.

3. Laquon Treadwell (Ole Miss) – San Diego Chargers
5. Laremy Tunsil (Ole Miss) – Jacksonville Jaguars
8. Vernon Hargreaves, III (Florida) – Miami Dolphins
12. Jarran Reed (Alabama) – New Orleans Saints
14. A’Shawn Robinson (Alabama) – Oakland Raiders
17. Jonathan Allen (Alabama) – Atlanta Falcons
20. Reggie Ragland (Alabama) – New York Jets
27. Derrick Henry (Alabama) – Carolina Panthers
31. Robert Nkemdiche (Ole Miss) – Seattle Seahawks

Noteworthy items:

  • Should such a projection hold up, it would mean only 3 SEC teams put players into the first round of the draft broken down as follows: Alabama (5), Ole Miss (3), Florida (1)
  • The same mock draft is projecting five Ohio State players drafted in the first round including Joey Bosa at the No. 1 pick
  • Nkemdiche falling? Here’s what the author has to say: ‘Plays like a Top 10 pick. But off the field is a mess, and he’s going to be torn to shreds by teams. The stories circulating among scouts aren’t pretty. Many think he’ll do a public apology tour. Nobody will question his talent. But if his brother doesn’t get drafted, and follows him to the city where he gets selected’
