There are some big-time matchups around the SEC this week. While No. 1 Alabama will face its greatest test so far with a road matchup at No. 11 Florida, No. 22 Auburn will look to notch a big non-conference road win at No. 10 Penn State.

On Friday, Chris “The Bear” Fallica, a researcher for ESPN, discussed his betting advice for the pair of games during an appearance on “McElroy and Cubelic in the Morning” on WJOX. And he started by breaking down the potential for rain in Gainesville for the Alabama-Florida matchup.

“If there’s weather, doesn’t that help Alabama even more? Don’t they have the more proven running game, the better offensive line, better on both lines of scrimmage? Wouldn’t that help Alabama?” Fallica said. “And that would kind of help my one play on this game.”

That bet? Taking the under on Florida’s total points.

“They’re not going to score a ton of points,” Fallica said. “Emory Jones is a turnover machine. Who knows if [Anthony] Richardon’s healthy, and if the field is a mess, a freshman quarterback with a bad hamstring on a slick field, that’s a recipe for [disaster]. You know how Nick Saban’s defenses eat these freshmen quarterbacks apart.”

Next, Fallica broke down the Auburn-Penn State matchup. And he believes it may be wise to bet the under on the Tigers’ total points in the first half, as they may get off to a bit of a slow start in the hostile environment at Beaver Stadium.

“I think at first they’ll probably be a little bit in awe, they may even be like, ‘Wow, this is kind of cool, we’ve never seen this before,'” Fallica said. “… Early on, Auburn comes out, gets a little conservative or uses [running back Tank] Bigsby to try and maybe gain some field position and maybe things open up a little bit in the second half. I give Auburn a good chance to win the game.”

It should be a great Saturday for football with these matchups being the highlights of the day.
