Jaden Rashada is heading back to the SEC. Ahead of his sophomore season, Rashada has committed to transfer to Georgia.

Rashada was the 247Sports Composite’s No. 81 prospect and No. 7 quarterback for the 2023 recruiting class. The Pittsburg (California) standout signed with Florida, but did not enroll after a reported massive NIL deal fell through, the subject of an NCAA investigation.

Rashada landed at Arizona State. He played in just 3 games, allowing him to take a redshirt for the season. Rashada went 44-of-82 passing for 485 yards, 4 touchdowns and 3 interceptions for the Sun Devils.

Adding Rashada for 2025 and beyond

Georgia was linked to Rashada from the time he entered the transfer portal last week. Kirby Smart’s stated desire for a fourth scholarship quarterback was mentioned with UGA targeting Rashada. While depth is appreciated, Rashada’s transfer is about 2025 and beyond.

Carson Beck led Georgia to a 13-0 regular season in his first year as QB1. Beck’s starting status is set for 2024, as long as he remains healthy.

Plenty of Smart’s coaching peers would agree that four scholarship quarterbacks is ideal for depth. For all intents and purposes, though, the Bulldogs appeared to be fine for 2024 already.

Gunner Stockton, a former 4-star Composite recruit from 2022 (No. 7 QB, No. 124 overall), is entering his third season in the program. He played in 4 games last season, going 12-of-19 for 148 yards, 2 touchdowns and 1 interception. As a third-year QB, Stockton gives Georgia a capable backup familiar with the system.

Before the Rashada commitment, Ryan Puglisi looked set to be QB3 on the depth chart without competition. Puglisi is a true freshman early enrollee. As an Avon (Connecticut) Old Farms standout, Puglisi was rated 4-stars, the No. 10 quarterback and No. 113 prospect overall for 2024 on the 247Sports Composite.

Recently, UGA landed a verbal pledge from Class of 2025 QB Ryan Montgomery. Out of Findlay (Ohio), Montgomery is rated 4-stars, the No. 14 QB and No. 170 prospect overall on the Composite.

Things have a way of changing quickly in the transfer portal, but at the moment, commitments from Montgomery and Rashada set UGA up to have blue-chip quarterbacks from the 4 consecutive classes (2022-25) entering next season.
