SEC commissioner contradicts Mississippi State AD over Jeffery Simmons decision
SEC commissioner Greg Sankey closed the conference’s spring meetings with a press conference Friday after a week-long conference meeting.
Among the more notable things Sankey said to the media, he was asked about Mississippi State’s decision regarding Jeffery Simmons. Simmons awaits a resolution on misdemeanor charges, which were the result of him using physical force in an effort to break up a domestic fight between his sister and another adult woman.
Yesterday, MSU revealed that Simmons could enroll at the university with conditions, and he was suspended for only one game. As you can imagine, MSU took its fair share of strong criticism. After the ruling, MSU athletic director Scott Stricklin spoke to the media regarding the decision, and he said the SEC was aware of the ruling and that the conference was “comfortable” with it.
Here’s the tweet from Thursday from ESPN reporter Chris Low.

However, Sankey sang a different tune Friday.
"I would not express comfort with that." GregSankey on quote that he was comfortable with Mississippi State enrollment decision.

Sankey went on to say that Simmons “will be under more scrutiny than any other person on that campus.”
