It would be an understatement to say this has been a tough week for Ohio State head football coach Urban Meyer.

Meyer, who is on paid administrative leave, may not make it through the weekend the Buckeyes have already tabbed offensive coordinator Ryan Day as the interim head coach moving forward in Meyer’s absence. If Meyer is released of his duties, the question is who takes over arguably the second best program in the country? If you missed it, the speculation on that has already begun.

One coach who is gaining steam as a possible replacement is Iowa State head football coach Matt Campbell. Campbell, who led the Cyclones to an 8-5 season in 2017 and a Liberty Bowl win, is one of the hottest names in college football heading into the season.

But Campbell decided to quickly address the rumors of a possible future relationship between him and Ohio State:

Campbell’s team opens up the 2018 season versus South Dakota State, then travels to Big 10 country in Week 2 to take on rival Iowa.
