Jim Harbaugh has now met with at least 2 NFL teams as he weighs his coaching future.

On Tuesday night, the Atlanta Falcons announced they have interviewed Harbaugh for their open head coaching job. Harbaugh previously interviewed with the Los Angeles Chargers.

The Falcons’ head coaching job is widely considered to be amongst the best open gigs on the market in the NFL. They parted ways with Arthur Smith earlier this offseason after he spent the past 3 seasons at the helm. Atlanta is loaded with offensive talent at skill positions, including tight end Kyle Pitts, running back Bijan Robinson and wide receiver Drake London. However, the quarterback position is a question mark for the Falcons moving forward.

Harbaugh, fresh off winning the national championship with his alma mater, could also decide to return to Michigan for the 2024 season. Michigan athletic director Warde Manuel said this week that he’s still working on signing Harbaugh to an extension with the university.

“To answer the question I heard about 500 times on the parade route, I am working on getting this man a new contract, I promise you,” Manuel said.

It’s possible Harbaugh will interview with more NFL teams before deciding on his coaching future. According to DraftKings, the Falcons are amongst the favorites to hire Harbaugh at +500. The Carolina Panthers, who drafted Bryce Young No. 1 overall last year, are +6000 for Harbaugh’s services. DraftKings in North Carolina will soon be operational.

Harbaugh last coached in the NFL in 2014. He led the San Francisco 49ers to a Super Bowl appearance in 2012-13. Harbaugh finished his stint with the 49ers with an overall record of 44-19.
