Mark Ingram II was announced to the Big Noon Kickoff roster in early July and has a surprising take right out of the gate.

The former Alabama and NFL running back named Michigan as his favorite to win the National Championship in 2023-24.

On paper, Ingram’s take is not an insane one. It is surprising, though. The Wolverines are going to be strong in 2023 and have made the CFP the past 2 seasons with 14 returning starters this season, sure. It wouldn’t be a hot take just about any other season if not for the elephant in the room: Georgia.

The Bulldogs have been the dominant force in college football the past 2 seasons. Some across college football would look at you crazy if you said any team in the country besides Georgia will win the final game of the season in 2023-24.

And truly, the Bulldogs seem to be playing a different game entirely.

Ingram thinks otherwise. He pointed to Michigan’s returning starters, including the “double-headed monster” of Blake Corum and Donovan Edwards in the backfield behind returner J.J. McCarthy to put them over the top.

There are few teams that can catch up to what Kirby Smart has done in Athens, but Michigan (as well as Ohio State out of the B1G) has as good a chance as anyone in the country.

Georgia thinks otherwise. As does Vegas. According to FanDuel Sportsbook, Georgia has +220 odds to 3-peat, followed by Alabama, Ohio State and finally Michigan at 4th.
