It’s time for some expert predictions for Week 2 in the SEC.

There are 12 games involving SEC teams this week, so let’s take a look at projected outcomes for Saturday’s matchups, according to four different media outlets — USA TODAY, Bleacher Report, Athlon Sports, and FBSchedules.

SEC PICKS BY USA TODAY COLUMNIST DAN WOLKEN

  • Alabama over Western Kentucky
  • Georgia over Nicholls State
  • TCU over Arkansas
  • Tennessee over Virginia Tech
  • Ole Miss over Wofford
  • LSU over Jacksonville State
  • Texas A&M over Prairie View A&M
  • Florida over Kentucky

Note: These are all pretty safe picks. TCU (-7.5) is a strong favorite to beat Arkansas, and Tennessee (-11) and Florida (-16.5) are both favored. After a hectic opening week, the SEC could use a nice, quiet weekend like this in Week 2.

SEC PICKS BY ATHLON SPORTS EDITOR STEVEN LASSAN

  • Alabama over Western Kentucky
  • Georgia over Nicholls State
  • TCU over Arkansas
  • Tennessee over Virginia Tech
  • Ole Miss over Wofford
  • LSU over Jacksonville State
  • Texas A&M over Prairie View A&M
  • Florida over Kentucky

Note: Much like Wolken, Lassan is going chalk. It’s hard to imagine any of the ranked SEC teams losing this week, considering three of them play FCS opponents and Alabama gets Western Kentucky. There’s no possible way the conference could have back-to-back subpar weeks, right? Right?

SEC PICKS BY BLEACHER REPORT COLUMNIST BRIAN PEDERSEN

  • Alabama 46, Western Kentucky 20
  • Georgia 61, Nicholls State 13
  • TCU 41, Arkansas 31
  • Tennessee 30, Virginia Tech 21
  • Ole Miss 60, Wofford 14
  • LSU 41, Jacksonville State 20
  • Texas A&M 59, Prairie View A&M 18
  • Florida 34, Kentucky 16
  • Middle Tennessee 28, Vanderbilt 19
  • Mississippi State 24, South Carolina 17
  • Auburn 37, Arkansas State 13
  • Missouri 34, Eastern Michigan 14

Note: Pedersen is a little more elaborate with this week’s schedule, providing score predictions for every game including the likes of SEC teams left unranked. He predicts a 10-4 bounce-back weekend, which includes two in-conference matchups, therefore two guaranteed losses. The only thing that really stands out here is MTSU leaving Nashville with a win, which really wouldn’t be all that shocking.

SEC PICKS BY FBSCHEDULES WRITER ERIC TAYLOR

  • Alabama 63, Western Kentucky 7
  • Georgia 42, Nicholls State 7
  • Arkansas 31, TCU 27
  • Tennessee 24, Virginia Tech 14
  • Ole Miss 45, Wofford 7
  • Jacksonville State 20, LSU 17 (OT)
  • Texas A&M 52, Prairie View A&M 0
  • Florida 28, Kentucky 6
  • Middle Tennessee 20, Vanderbilt 17 (OT)
  • Mississippi State 24, South Carolina 17
  • Auburn 28, Arkansas State 9
  • Eastern Michigan 34, Missouri 24

Note: Cue the dumpster fires and street riots. FBSchedules.com writer Eric Taylor thinks the SEC’s lackluster opening week will trickle into Week 2 despite a less-than-daunting overall schedule for the conference. He’s the only one going with Arkansas over TCU and believes Tennessee will keep the league afloat with a win at Bristol Motor Speedway but predicts the ultimate doomsday for LSU and Missouri. Losing to FCS Jacksonville State would effectively end Les Miles’ tenure in Baton Rouge before the weekend is over, and dropping a game to EMU — arguably the worst program in college football over the last decade-plus — wouldn’t be a good look for new coach Barry Odom.
