Not happy with a four-team Playoff?

More football is good, so we’ve decided to expand the season by several weeks with the introduction of the SDS 64, a ‘Winter Madness’ style tournament with an emphasis on conference championships, strength of schedule and any factors we see fit.

Each region has its own theme, dominant teams and laughable neutral site hosts. Hint: 12 SEC teams made the field.

Storylines: Memphis does it again! The 12th-seeded Tigers finished off No. 4 Arizona State in the second round of the Chrome Dome Region after upsetting Melvin Gordon and the Badgers in their first game of the tournament; Mizzou and Auburn battled to a heroic, 30-27, finish in a 4/5 showdown in the Crab Legs Region with the golden Tigers moving on. All 1 and 2 seeds are still alive as we move into the Sweet 16.

Biggest blowouts: UCLA 45, BYU 17; TCU 49, Stanford 20; Baylor 56, Duke 28

Upsets: No. 5 LSU 20, No. 4 Georgia Tech 17; No. 12 Memphis 30, No. 4 Arizona State 24

Most impressive stat line: In one of his final outings before the NFL Draft, UCLA quarterback Brett Hundley completed 24-of-28 passes for 328 yards and four touchdowns during the Bruins’ win over BYU.
