Outside of its six SEC East foes and traditional crossover rival LSU, the conference addition to Florida’s schedule in 2016 is Arkansas. The Gators and the Razorbacks hook up Nov. 5 in Fayetteville, Ark.

Here’s a breakdown on this cross-division rotational game:

Last meeting: Oct. 5, 2013 in Gainesville, Fla.

What happened: Florida won 30-10.

Key players: Tyler Murphy got his first start at quarterback in Florida Field for the Gators, and he rose to the occasion. He completed 16 of 22 passes for 240 yards and three touchdowns. Two of the scoring catches went to Solomon Patton, who had six catches for 124 yards, including a 51-yard TD strike. Florida’s defense was tough, too. Arkansas QB Brandon Allen, who was a sophomore and starting just his second SEC game, struggled all afternoon. He completed only 17 of 41 passes for 164 yards, good for a QB rating of 9.3, the lowest of his career.

Coaches: Will Muschamp was in his third year with the Gators. Bret Bielema was in his first year with the Razorbacks.

How the year played out: Not well for either team. The Gators finished 4-8 overall and 3-5 in the SEC. The Gators missed a bowl game for the first time since 1990, when they were banned from participating. Arkansas never won an SEC game all year (0-8) and finished 3-9 overall, losing its last nine.

Last meeting in Fayetteville: Tim Tebow led the Gators to an easy 38-7 victory over the Razorbacks on Oct. 4, 2008. The running game was rolling that day, with Jeff Demps and Chris Rainey each rushing for 103 yards. Joe Haden had an interception for the Gators defense, as well.

All-time record: The Gators lead the series 9-1.

What’s at stake this year: It depends on how both progressed. The Gators, defending SEC East champions, will have their hands full with Georgia and Tennessee in the East and will have already played their rivals, including Georgia a week earlier. If they’re still in the hunt, this will be a big November test on the road. For Arkansas, the Hogs have shown improvement in each of the first three years of the Bielema era and in 2015, they were playing great late in the season. It will be interesting to see how quickly the offense comes together under new quarterback Austin Allen.
