One of college basketball’s top prospects could be heading to an SEC campus sooner than previously expected.

Jonathan Kuminga, previously the No. 1 recruit in the class of 2021, graduated this weekend and has reclassified to the class of 2020. Twitter account Hoopgate shared a video of  The Patrick School in Hillside, New Jersey’s virtual graduation:

In May, when he was still considered a 2021 prospect, Kuminga shared that he considered his top 5 options to be Auburn, Kentucky, Duke, Texas Tech and the NBA’s G-League. The 6-8, 205-pound native of the Democratic Republic of the Congo was rated the No. 1 prospect in the nation for 2021 on the 247Sports Composite.

247Sports National Basketball Analyst Brian Snow identified Kuminga as a future first-round pick back in 2018:

Already at 6-foot-8 with extremely long arms, he is beginning to put his skill game together. Length, athleticism, and versatility are his strengths. Has shown the ability to get into the lane and rebounds well. Is capable of guarding multiple positions, and also blocking shots. Needs to continue to get better with his outside shot, and if that comes he should be nearly impossible to guard. His upside is through the roof, and he is just now beginning to figure out how good he can become. He should hear his name called early in the NBA draft when decides to make that move.

Fans of 4 programs will be watching closely to see if Kuminga chooses college or the G-League.
