The SEC came within three points of potentially going 13-0 as a conference in its season openers last week. The league still has some “cupcake” games on its Week 2 slate, but there are also two matchups between ranked teams: LSU at Mississippi State and Oklahoma at Tennessee.

As we get closer to having mostly intraconference games, let’s take a look at projected final scores for Saturday’s SEC matchups, according to four different media outlets — tennessean.com, fbsschedules.com, Athlon Sports and Fox Sports.

SEC PICKS BY TENNESSEAN COLUMNIST DAVE AMMENHEUSER

Auburn 42, Jacksonville State 10
Georgia 35, Vanderbilt 17
Ole Miss 55, Fresno State 14
Alabama 49, Middle Tennessee State 13
Arkansas 49, Toledo 7
Tennessee 45, Oklahoma 42
Missouri 29, Arkansas State 21
Texas A&M 49, Ball State 9
Florida 38, East Carolina 17
South Carolina 28, Kentucky 24
Mississippi State 31, LSU 28

Note: Here are the most telling observations. Ammenheuser likes Mississippi State to beat LSU outright. The Bulldogs are getting more than a field goal, so that’s a pretty ballsy pick. He also sees Missouri having a hard time with Arkansas State; the Tigers are favored by 11 points. He also likes South Carolina to win — but not cover — against Kentucky. The Gamecocks are favored by 7.5.

SEC PICKS BY FBSSCHEDULES.COM’s ERIC TAYLOR

Auburn 42, Jacksonville State 7
Georgia 24, Vanderbilt 3
Ole Miss 44, Fresno State 10
Alabama 48, Middle Tennessee State 21
Arkansas 42, Toledo 7
Tennessee 40, Oklahoma 37 (2 OTs)
Arkansas State 31, Missouri 24
Texas A&M 45, Ball State 14
Florida 28, East Carolina 13
Kentucky 35, South Carolina 21
LSU 28, Mississippi State 10

Note: The biggest thing that jumps out here is that Taylor not only predicts that Kentucky will beat South Carolina outright, he has the Wildcats winning by 14 points. The other surprise is his calling for Missouri to lose to Arkansas State. And according to him, it looks like Tennessee will nip Oklahoma in a thriller.

SEC PICKS BY ATHLON SPORTS’ DAVID FOX

Oklahoma 38, Tennessee 28
Mississippi State 24, LSU 17
South Carolina 31, Kentucky 27
Georgia 31, Vanderbilt 10
Arkansas 38, Toledo 10
Missouri 31, Arkansas State 13
Florida 38, East Carolina 14
Alabama 42, Middle Tennessee State 10
Texas A&M 49, Ball State 14
Ole Miss 42, Fresno State 7
Auburn 56, Jacksonville State 7

Note: Hmm. Fox likes Oklahoma to win by two scores on the road in what is basically a pick ’em game. And he agrees with Ammenheuser regarding Mississippi State beating LSU outright.

SEC PICKS BY FOX SPORTS

Auburn 52, Jacksonville State 8
Alabama 34, Middle Tennessee State 21
Georgia 30, Vanderbilt 22
Texas A&M 35, Ball State 26
Missouri 30, Arkansas State 25
Oklahoma 29, Tennessee 24
Arkansas 30, Toledo 25
Florida 28, East Carolina 24
LSU 29, Mississippi State 25
South Carolina 30, Kentucky 28

Note: Each game in Fox Sports’ predictions is simulated 101 times, so these scores may actually turn out to be quite accurate. The most telling thing about these picks is the preponderance of single-digit outcomes, eight of them to be exact. There was no pick listed for Ole Miss-Fresno State.
