Brock Bowers has a new team! The elite tight end out of Georgia was selected with the No. 13 overall pick by the Las Vegas Raiders during the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft.

Bowers begins his professional career after being a key part of a 42-2 run at Georgia that includes two national championships and an SEC title.

Bowers’ recruitment took place in 2020, under limited access during the pandemic. Kirby Smart’s staff, though, managed to sign a 4-star tight end out of Napa, California. SEC defenses would have rather see Bowers stay closer to home.

Bowers was quick to turn heads as a newcomer. Against UAB, Georgia’s Week 2 opponent of the 2021 season, Bowers had 3 catches for 107 yards and 2 touchdowns. It would be the first of 4 100-yard games in Bowers’ freshman season.

Bowers finished his first season with 56 catches for 882 yards and 13 touchdowns. Recognized as a key piece of Georgia’s national championship run, Bowers was named an All-American by multiple publications. He picked up both conference and national Freshman of the Year honors for his sensational rookie season.

All eyes were on Bowers in Georgia’s 2022 repeat campaign. With defenses doing their best to contain the star tight end, Bowers still saw his receptions and receiving yards go up. Bowers’ 63 catches for 942 yards and 7 touchdowns and 9 carries for 109 yards and 3 scores earned him the first Mackey Award in UGA history. Bowers was again first-team All-America and All-SEC.

In the 2023 campaign, Bowers was limited to playing in just 10 games. He still recorded 56 catches for 714 yards in those appearances. Despite missing time, Bowers still became the first-ever back-to-back winner of the Mackey Award as the nation’s top tight end.

Bowers is in an exclusive club with Herschel Walker and David Pollack as a Georgia 3-time first-team All-American. He also made All-SEC again in 2023 as a unanimous selection.

Bowers had 7 catches for 152 yards in the national championship game against TCU. It was a career-high until his 8-catch, 157-yard game against Auburn in 2023.

Bowers leaves behind plenty of great memories and a lengthy highlight reel.
